Saudi Arabia, officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) held a three-day festival which paid by the governor to bring more entertainment to KSA.

The most fascinating things happened on the 1st Comic Con in KSA are there’s a gender mixing. As we thought, in Saudi Arabia is very tight about the gender. Men and women have to maintain a distance to avoid some undesirable thing. A separate female-tent was set up for women who wanted to show-off their costumes. So the men-tent was. The second thing is even the gate was separated, when they got trough into the building, they are the same and they will forget if they are in Saudi Arabia.


Setting up the event took over a year, and a balance was struck to keep the spirit of the Comic Con while adhering to the country's religious regulations.
Indecent symbols or logos that went against Islamic teachings were prohibited and attendees were not allowed to cross-dress.
Even then, there was uproar online against what was considered a Western phenomenon in the traditional Islamic kingdom.
A hashtag calling Comic Con a "devil worshipping" festival became popular on Twitter and some called for boycotting it.
